“Bury You” is a folk noir, pop ballad, featuring hip hop/rap artist The Spectre, and narrating the difficulty of letting go of toxic love. It’s about not having to say goodbye, or looking for “closure” where none can be had.
This was a track co-written with the Spectre and recorded in Paris, in August, 2019. The song’s initial release was delayed due to the onset of the Pandemic and the Black Live Matters movement.
I had to bury you, bury you
Bury you, bury you
I’m not accusing you/ losing you
Not bruisin’ or lying’
I’m done with the crying
I’m not forgetting or yelling or catching you out
Shut your mouth
Miss me instead
’cause time takes time
and these wounds won’t dry
I’m not regretting or running or playing your games
Close your eyes/ it’ll be alright
I had to bury you, bury you
Kiss you one more time and not tell you goodbye
I had to bury you, bury you
Turn out the lights ’cause we’ve run out of time
I had to bury you, bury you
Kiss you one more time and not tell you goodbye
I had to bury you, bury you
Turn out the lights ’cause we’ve run out of time
Though I miss your skin
I won’t be crawling
Though I miss your skin
I won’t be crawling
The clock ticks on the wall
Moments pass and I feel like I’m falling
Never one to call, out for help,
I’ll pick up this shit myself
and bury you,
Put you to the back of mind
Hear you scream for the very last time
I don’t wanna beef, no trust me I’m fine
if I keep doing this, it’s a crime
truth be told, yeah I love that sound of your laughter
but I’ll never be the man that you’re after
I dont really wanna become a bastard
I’ll tell you my truth if you ask it
I been walking down this winding road
for God knows how long
And I feel like i cant go on
but if I stop, I’ll have to face my wrongs
Bury you, bury you
Kiss you one more time and not tell you goodbye
I had to bury you, bury you
turn out the lights ’cause weve run out of time
Bury you, bury you
Kiss you one more time and not tell you goodbye
I had to bury you, bury you
turn out the lights ’cause weve run out of time
I had to
Kiss you one more
I had to
Turn out the lights
I had to
I had to
